The Department of Housing tabled the above mentioned Bill (PIE Amendment Bill) in Parliament.

The Department of Housing presented the Bill to their Portfolio Committee on Wednesday, 25 May 2005.

The Portfolio Committee agreed with the Departments' proposal that, in light of the current developments with regard to housing and land issues, that there is a need to allow for further comprehensive consultation between Housing and Land Affairs, Provincial and Local Government etc. as well as a review and alignment of legislation dealing with evictions, specifically Labour Tenants Act, ESTA and PIE. Planning legislation must also be integrated.
